Flödenas

Flödenas is a fictional municipality in the Nordmark region of Valdoria. It lies in a rolling landscape of forests and farmland, with the Silja River forming the eastern boundary. The municipality covers about 78 square kilometers and had an estimated population of 7,600 in 2022.

The settlement grew from a medieval market village founded around the 13th century. It developed as a timber and textile center in the early modern period. In 1864 Flödenas was established as a unified municipality through the amalgamation of several parish communities. The late 20th century saw industrial restructuring, with growth in services and tourism.

Economy and infrastructure. The local economy centers on forestry, light manufacturing, and agribusiness, complemented by tourism focused on nature and cultural heritage. Flödenas is served by a regional rail line and an interconnected bus network; the main road, Route 41, passes through the northern outskirts. Notable landmarks include a medieval church, a river hydroelectric facility, and a small museum of regional crafts.

Governance. The municipality is governed by an elected council of 15 members and an executive mayor. The council is responsible for budgeting, schooling, and local planning. As of 2024, the mayor is Sigrid Lonsen (fictional). The local dialect preserves features of the broader Nordmark speech.
