Finnische

Finnische is a German adjective and, in certain contexts, a noun related to Finland and the Finnish language. As an adjective it describes things connected with Finland, its people or its language, and is declined like other German adjectives according to gender, number and case. For example: die finnische Kultur (feminine singular), ein finnischer Mann (masculine singular), ein finnisches Dorf (neuter singular), or die finnischen Städte (plural). After definite articles the endings follow the standard pattern (finnische, finnische, finnischen, etc.), while with no article the strong declension yields forms such as finnische Städte.

When Finnische is used as a noun, it refers to the Finnish language or, more broadly, to Finnish language-related matters. In this use it is capitalized: das Finnische. This noun form is common in discussions of linguistics, literature, and national or cultural topics.

Etymologically, Finnische derives from Finnland (Finland) and the root Finn-, which is related to the Finnic language family. It is used primarily in German-language contexts to denote nationality, language or cultural ties to Finland, rather than as a standalone demonym for people (where the noun Finnland- or Finnischer Finn might appear in other constructions).
