FinnGenprojektin

The FinnGen project is a large-scale Finnish research initiative that combines genomic data with electronic health records. Its primary aim is to identify genetic variations that contribute to common diseases and to uncover new therapeutic targets. The project began in 2016 and has since amassed a significant biobank of genetic samples and corresponding health data from Finnish participants.

FinnGen's methodology involves analyzing DNA from up to 500,000 Finnish individuals. This genetic information is then linked to anonymized health data, which includes diagnoses, treatments, and family history, derived from national health registers and biobanks.
