Filletkötések

Filletkötések, or fillet connections, are mechanical pipe joints that use a fillet joint design to create a sealed, stable assembly. The fillet joint forms a curved surface that interlocks two pipe sections, providing a parallel alignment and resistance to torsion while distributing pressure across a larger contact area. This construction reduces the opportunity for leaks compared to simple end‑to‑end connections, making filletkötések suitable for high‑pressure systems in oil, gas, and chemical transport.

The assembly process involves clamping the two pipe ends together and tightening a set of bolts that force the fillet profile to lie flush against the pipe walls. Once the bolts are tightened, a gasket or sealing compound—often a PTFE or rubber sealant—is compressed between the surfaces. The combination of mechanical locking and the gasket provides the integrity required for conveying hot or corrosive media. Because the bolting distributes load evenly, the connection can withstand temperature cycling without significant metal expansion causing gaps.

Standardized fillet joint types are specified in various national and international codes, such as the OSP (Oil and Gas Pipeline) standard in the United States and analogous ASTM and ISO standards in Europe. These codes define acceptable pipe materials, fillet dimensions, bolt spacing, and sealing materials to ensure interoperability among manufacturers and compliance with safety regulations.

Advantages of filletkötések include quick installation, ease of repair, and the ability to handle complex flow paths. Potential drawbacks are the need for precise alignment during assembly and the relatively higher weight of bolted components compared to weld joints. In many modern pipelines, filament-bonded connections are replaced by digital package assemblies that incorporate cable management and sensor integration. Nonetheless, filletkötések remain a reliable choice for traditional ductile iron, copper, and stainless steel pipework in critical infrastructure.
