Fieseler

Fieseler is a surname of German origin. It is most commonly associated with the Fieseler Flugzeugbau company, a German aircraft manufacturer founded by Reinhold Fieseler in 1930. The company was renowned for its innovative designs, particularly during the World War II era.

The most famous aircraft produced by Fieseler Flugzeugbau was the Fieseler Fi 156 Storch. This high-wing, short-takeoff-and-landing (STOL) reconnaissance aircraft was highly valued for its ability to operate from very short and unprepared surfaces. Its distinctive long landing gear and slotted wings contributed to its remarkable low-speed handling characteristics. The Storch saw extensive service with the Luftwaffe and was used for reconnaissance, liaison, and even air-ambulance duties.

Other notable Fieseler aircraft include the Fi 167, a naval torpedo bomber, and the Fi 103, which was the German designation for the V-1 flying bomb. The company also produced other trainers and reconnaissance planes. After World War II, the Fieseler company was dissolved. The name Fieseler, therefore, largely evokes the legacy of its pioneering aircraft designs, especially the iconic Storch.
