FidelityFX

FidelityFX is a collection of open-source spatial, temporal, and input-dependent visual enhancement effects from AMD designed to provide game developers with tools to improve graphics quality and performance in their games. It is not a single technology but rather a suite of different SDKs and effects. These effects are often implemented on the GPU and are designed to be hardware-agnostic, meaning they can run on a variety of graphics hardware, not just AMD's.

One of the most well-known components is FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR). FSR is an open-source, cross-platform upscaling technology that aims to boost frame rates with high-quality, high-resolution visuals. It uses a spatial upscaler in its earlier versions and has evolved to include temporal data in later iterations. FSR is designed to be easy for developers to integrate into their games and works across a wide range of GPUs, including those from NVIDIA and Intel.

Other FidelityFX effects include FidelityFX Color Core for advanced color correction, FidelityFX CAS (Contrast Adaptive Sharpening) for intelligent sharpening, FidelityFX Depth of Field for realistic depth of field effects, and FidelityFX Variable Shading for optimizing rendering performance by reducing shading detail in less important areas of the screen. The open-source nature of FidelityFX allows developers to freely integrate and modify these tools to suit their specific project needs. AMD actively contributes to the ongoing development and expansion of the FidelityFX suite.
