Festuhæfni is an Old English term that translates roughly to "feasting capability" or "the ability to feast." It refers to a social and economic concept prevalent in early medieval Germanic societies, particularly among the Anglo-Saxons. This term encompassed not just the physical act of eating and drinking but also the social status and power associated with hosting and providing lavish feasts. A person's festuhæfni was an indicator of their wealth, generosity, and influence within their community.
