Ferðamennska is the activity and industry related to traveling for leisure or exploration and the services that support visitors. In Icelandic usage, the term encompasses inbound tourism (foreign visitors coming to Iceland) as well as outbound tourism (Icelandic residents traveling elsewhere), and includes transportation, accommodation, meals, guided services, attractions, events, and related activities such as travel planning and marketing. The concept covers both large-scale tourism and small-scale, experience-driven travel.
