Ferritekjernede refers to a type of inductor or transformer that utilizes a ferrite core. Ferrite is a composite ceramic material known for its high magnetic permeability and low electrical conductivity. These properties make it an excellent material for magnetic cores, particularly in high-frequency applications.

The primary function of a ferrite core is to concentrate and guide magnetic flux lines. In an inductor, a wire is wound around the ferrite core. When current flows through the wire, it generates a magnetic field that is amplified and contained by the ferrite. This results in a higher inductance value compared to an air-cored inductor of the same dimensions, allowing for more energy storage.

In transformers, ferrite cores are used to couple two or more windings magnetically. The changing magnetic flux produced by the primary winding induces a voltage in the secondary winding. The high permeability of ferrite allows for efficient energy transfer between windings with minimal magnetic flux leakage, especially at radio frequencies.

Ferrite cores come in various shapes, such as toroids, E-cores, and U-cores, each suited for different applications. Their low eddy current losses at high frequencies make them ideal for use in switching power supplies, radio frequency (RF) circuits, noise suppression filters, and other electronic devices where efficient magnetic behavior is crucial. The specific composition of the ferrite material can be tailored to optimize its magnetic properties for a particular operating frequency and temperature range.
