Femoroplasty
Femoroplasty is a surgical procedure used to reshape the proximal femur, the upper part of the thigh bone. It is most commonly performed to address femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), a condition where abnormal bone shapes in the hip joint cause friction and pain during movement. FAI can be broadly categorized into two types: cam impingement, characterized by an excess of bone on the femoral head or neck, and pincer impingement, where the acetabulum (hip socket) has an abnormal overhang. Femoroplasty specifically targets the cam type by removing the excess bone.
The procedure is typically performed arthroscopically, meaning it is done using small incisions and specialized instruments
Post-operative recovery varies but often involves a period of protected weight-bearing and physical therapy to regain
