Felkapcsolás

Felkapcsolás is a Hungarian noun that denotes the act of turning on or enabling a device, system, or circuit, or the act of shifting to a higher gear in a vehicle. The related verb is felkapcsolni. The term is formed from the prefix fel- (up, on) and kapcsolás (switching, connection), which in turn comes from kapcsolat or kapcsoló (switch).

The primary sense of felkapcsolás is technological: activating electrical equipment, machinery, or control circuits. In everyday language one might say felkapcsolni a lámpát or felkapcsolni a készüléket to mean turning on the light or device. In industrial and electrical contexts, felkapcsolás can refer to enabling a circuit, starting a subsystem, or connecting a component to a power source or network. The process is commonly described in manuals and schematics as part of a sequence that also includes kapcsolás (switching) and lekapcsolás (turning off).

In automotive usage, felkapcsolás specifically refers to upshifting to a higher gear, a term used in driving instructions and vehicle manuals to indicate a change of gear during acceleration. This sense is distinct from electrical activation but shares the same root concept of “changing the state” of a system.

In computing and IT, bekapcsolás and kapcsolódás are more common for activation or connection, while felkapcsolás is less frequent and may appear primarily in mechanical or metaphorical expressions.
