FateApocrypha

Fate/Apocrypha is a Japanese light novel series written by Yosuke Kuroda and illustrated by TYPE-MOON. It is a spin-off of the popular Fate franchise, set in an alternate timeline from the main Fate/stay night series. The story revolves around a Holy Grail War that takes place not in Fuyuki City, but in the Romanian city of Romania. Unlike typical Grail Wars involving seven Masters and seven Servants, this conflict features two opposing factions, the Red Team and the Black Team, each with seven Masters and seven Servants, for a total of fourteen pairs.

The narrative focuses on the perspective of a young man named Sieg, a former homunculus who becomes a key figure in the war. The conflict is not merely about obtaining the Holy Grail; it escalates into a grand battle between the mages' association and a rogue group of magi who seek to exploit the Grail's power. Key characters include Ruler Jeanne d'Arc, who presides over the war, and various formidable Servants from different classes and historical backgrounds. The series explores themes of sacrifice, justice, and the nature of heroism as the participants grapple with the immense stakes of the war and their own ideals. Fate/Apocrypha has also been adapted into an anime series and several manga.
