Farbresten
Farbresten is a term used in textile dyeing and pigment processing to describe residual color material that remains after a dyeing operation or pigment milling. The term, etymologically linked to the Germanic roots Farb- “color” and Rest “remnant,” refers to solids and colloidal suspensions collected as waste, by-products, or reworkable material in various stages of production. In dyehouses, farbresten can include washed-out dye crystals, settled sludge from effluent treatment containing residual dyes, and dyed fiber fragments. In pigment manufacture, it denotes the coarse or fine residue produced during grinding or milling of pigments.
Historically, farbresten were sometimes reused in low-grade applications or blended into other colorants, but modern practice
