FarbgradingWorkflows is the set of processes and practices used to apply color grading to moving images in film, television, and digital media. It encompasses planning, technical execution, and creative development to achieve a consistent look that supports storytelling, production design, and mood while preserving accurate skin tones and exposure across shots.

Color grading workflows typically begin in pre-production with camera choices, color spaces, and look development. Directors and DPs establish a reference look, while metadata, LUTs, and a color management plan define how footage from different cameras will be unified.

In production post, dailies or offline grades are created to check exposure, white balance, and continuity. A colorist or supervising colorist builds the look through node-based adjustments, calibrates monitors, and tracks decisions in versioned timelines for later conform.

At the finishing stage, footage is conformed to the final cut, VFX are integrated, and final grades are approved. The workflow addresses SDR and HDR deliverables, color spaces, transforms such as ACES, and the use of LUTs or procedural nodes. Quality control and archival procedures are essential.

Roles include colorists, supervising colorists, editors, DPs, VFX leads, and post supervisors. Clear communication and documented approvals help maintain continuity across scenes and departments.

Common tools include DaVinci Resolve, Baselight, and Nuke, with workflows supported by RAW and Log camera formats, proxies, and metadata. The goal is a reproducible, reversible process that records look decisions and can be revisited as needed.
