Fallskjermklubb

Fallskjermklubb, a Norwegian term literally translating to "parachute club," in many Western countries, typically denote an organization or group of individuals with a shared interest in skydiving and parachuting. However, in Norway, particularly in the post-World War II era, fallskjermklubb referred to a paramilitary organization with a significant affiliation with the country's resistance movement against Nazi Germany.

During World War II, Norway was occupied by Nazi forces, and many Norwegians joined various resistance groups to fight against the occupiers. Fallskjermklubb, amongst other organizations, played a crucial role in this resistance. While the primary function of these groups may not be related to skydiving, the term "fallskjerm" (parachute) was indeed used. However, the reality behind the use of this term in Norway has nothing to do with the sport of skydiving.

In the post-war period, the term fallskjermklubb has been used more figuratively. Law enforcement and intelligence agencies, while not affiliated with any parachuting group, have referred to units that have skills and abilities equivalent to Western world "parachute teams." However, these modern-day fallskjermklubb do not actually engage in skydiving.

The assassinations of Norwegian politicians in the late 1990s raised questions about new or reforming fallskjermklubb. Very little verifiable information can indeed be confirmed, about the number, operation, or supposed existence of modern fallskjermklubb in Norway.
