Faasidiagrammia

Faasidiagrammia, often translated as phase diagram, is a graphical representation showing the stable phases of a substance or mixture under varying conditions. These conditions are typically temperature, pressure, and composition. The diagram maps out regions where a single phase exists, as well as lines and points where multiple phases can coexist in equilibrium.

A simple phase diagram for a pure substance usually plots temperature on the x-axis and pressure on the y-axis. The lines on this diagram represent the conditions under which phase transitions occur, such as melting (solid-liquid), boiling (liquid-gas), and sublimation (solid-gas). Key points include the triple point, where all three phases coexist, and the critical point, beyond which the liquid and gas phases become indistinguishable.
