Fókuszérzékelés refers to the process by which an organism determines the focal length or distance to an object for clear vision. This is crucial for visual acuity, allowing creatures to adjust their optical systems to bring images into sharp focus. In humans, this is primarily achieved through accommodation, a process involving the ciliary muscles and the lens of the eye. When the eye needs to focus on a distant object, the ciliary muscles relax, causing the lens to flatten. Conversely, for near objects, the ciliary muscles contract, making the lens thicker and more convex. This change in lens shape alters its refractive power, directing light rays precisely onto the retina.

Beyond accommodation, other mechanisms contribute to fókuszérzékelés in the animal kingdom. Some animals possess eyes with a fixed focal length and rely on moving their head or the object itself to achieve focus. Others may have multiple lenses or a more complex visual system that can adapt to different distances.
