Extrusointimenetelmällä

Extrusointimenetelmällä, often translated as the extrusion method, is a manufacturing process used to create objects with a fixed cross-sectional profile. This method involves forcing material through a die of the desired cross-section. The material can be a solid, semi-solid, or molten substance.

The process typically begins with the raw material, which is then heated to a malleable or molten state. This material is then loaded into an extrusion press or machine. A ram or piston exerts pressure on the material, pushing it through a shaped opening called a die. The die determines the final shape of the extruded product. As the material is forced through the die, it takes on the die's profile and emerges as a continuous length. This extruded product is then cooled, cut to the desired lengths, and may undergo further processing such as straightening or surface treatments.

Extrusion is a versatile technique used for a wide range of materials, including metals, plastics, rubber, and even food products like pasta. Common examples of products manufactured using extrusion include window frames, pipes, electrical conduits, aluminum profiles, and various plastic shapes. The method is favored for its ability to produce complex cross-sections economically and with good surface finish. It is also known for its high production rates, making it suitable for mass production.
