Explicitus

Explicitus is a term that appears in some scholarly and fictional contexts as a Latinate label for the property of explicitness. Unlike terms with formal definitions in established disciplines, explicitus lacks a single, widely accepted definition across fields. The word derives from the Latin explicitus, meaning “unfolded” or “stated clearly,” from explicare.

In linguistics and discourse analysis, explicitus is sometimes used to refer to explicit expressions or explicit discourse markers that directly name an entity or relation, as opposed to entities inferred from context. The concept of explicitness is concerned with how information is encoded and how much it requires inferences to recover intended meaning. Some authors use explicitus as a shorthand for the explicit form of an utterance in contrast to implicit content.
