Evrópurétturinn
Evrópurétturinn is the Icelandic term for European law. It encompasses the legal framework originating from the European Union, as well as broader European legal traditions and conventions that influence Icelandic jurisprudence. Iceland is not a member of the European Union but is a member of the European Economic Area (EEA). As a result, a significant portion of EU law, particularly concerning the internal market, is incorporated into Icelandic law through the EEA agreement. This includes legislation on free movement of goods, services, capital, and persons, as well as competition law, environmental protection, and consumer rights.
