Eudokimos

Eudokimos is a figure appearing in ancient Greek mythology, most notably as a participant in the Calydonian Boar Hunt. He was a son of the Thessalian king Ixion and his wife Dia. However, some accounts suggest that Ixion was the only parent involved, with Eudokimos being born from Ixion's attempt to trick his wife, or even a supernatural birth involving Zeus. His lineage, therefore, is sometimes debated and linked to other prominent figures of myth.

Eudokimos joined the assembly of heroes summoned by King Oeneus of Calydon to hunt a monstrous boar that was devastating the land. This boar was a divine punishment sent by Artemis, angered by Oeneus's failure to offer her sacrifices. Eudokimos's participation highlights his status as a warrior and adventurer, worthy of joining the ranks of figures like Meleager, Atalanta, and the Dioscuri.

His specific role and fate during the Calydonian Boar Hunt are not extensively detailed in surviving myths. Unlike some other heroes who met tragic ends or achieved particular fame for their actions in the hunt, Eudokimos's contribution is often mentioned in lists of participants rather than through narrative action. This suggests he was a secondary character in the larger epic. Despite the limited focus on his individual exploits, his presence at such a significant mythical event underscores his place within the heroic traditions of ancient Greece.
