Ethylene tetrafluoroethylene, commonly known as ETFE, is a fluoropolymer that is a copolymer of ethylene and tetrafluoroethylene. ETFE is a thermoplastic and can be processed using conventional extrusion and injection molding techniques. It is also resistant to UV radiation, making it suitable for outdoor applications.

The material is significantly lighter than glass, reducing structural load requirements. ETFE films can also be inflated to create insulating air cushions, improving thermal performance.

Beyond architecture, ETFE finds applications in the aerospace and automotive industries due to its electrical insulation properties and resistance to extreme temperatures and harsh chemicals. It is used in wire and cable insulation, as well as in components for chemical processing equipment.
