Esporles

Esporles is a municipality in the Balearic Islands, Spain, located in the western part of Mallorca, in the foothills of the Serra de Tramuntana, about 12 to 15 kilometers from Palma. It has a resident population in the several thousands and is governed by an ayuntamiento (municipal council) headed by a mayor.

The landscape features a green valley framed by forests of pine and oak, with streams that run toward the central plains of Mallorca. The area has a long agricultural heritage, historically producing olives, almonds, citrus and wine. Today, agriculture remains important alongside services for residents and visitors, with rural tourism and nature-based activities contributing to the local economy.

Notable landmarks include the parish church of Sant Pere and the nearby estate and gardens of Raixa, a historic manor house with a notable landscape design. The village center preserves traditional Mallorcan architecture, with stone houses and narrow streets that reflect the region’s history and cultural identity.

Esporles hosts local festivals and events tied to the Catholic calendar and the harvest season, as well as activities related to hiking and the Tramuntana foothills. The town is accessible by road and is connected to Palma and other towns by regional bus services, serving as a gateway for outdoor routes and countryside excursions.
