Esikir

Esikir is a coastal city and regional capital in the fictional nation of Valara, located on the southern coast of the continent of Asteria. It serves as the administrative center of Valaran Province.

Esikir sits on a natural harbor protected by a reef and a breakwater. The city has rolling hills to the east, and a temperate maritime climate with mild winters and warm summers.

History note: Founded in the 11th century by maritime traders, Esikir grew as a trading post and port town. It attained city status by the 14th century and joined the Valaran Union in the 18th. An earthquake in 1902 reshaped parts of the waterfront.

Esikir is the capital of Valaran Province and is governed by a mayor and a city council. The metropolitan area contains about 120,000 residents, with a mix of coastal, agrarian, and urban communities.

The harbor supports fishing, shipping, logistics, and a growing textile industry. A regional railway links Esikir to inland markets, and ferries connect to nearby islands.

The Esikir language, Esikiri, is official alongside Valaran. The city is known for its Market Square, Harbor Gate, and Old Fort. An annual Festival of Sails reflects its maritime heritage.
