Escoriai

Escoriai is a fictional town and commune in the northern part of the fictional country of Ardentia. It lies along the Pourne River, about 60 kilometers from the capital, Norvale. The municipality covers roughly 42 square kilometers and features river valleys and gentle hills. The climate is temperate, with mild summers and cool winters.

The settlement dates to the 13th century and grew around ironworking and mining. The name Escoriai is derived from escoria, the term for slag, reflecting its ore-processing heritage.

Historically centered on mining, Escoriai has diversified into agriculture, light manufacturing, and services. Local products include wine from hillside vineyards and cereals. The town hosts a small industrial park and serves as a service center for nearby rural communities.

The town has about 6,200 residents and is governed by a municipal council led by a mayor. Official languages are Ardentian and the local dialect.

Notable sites include a 12th-century parish church and a mining museum that highlights local industrial history. An annual Forge Festival celebrates metalworking, complemented by a small theater and public library.

Escoriai is connected by regional roads; the nearest railway station is in the neighboring town of Kestrel, with regular bus services linking the two.
