Eristuvust

Eristuvust is an Estonian noun meaning the quality of being distinguishable or separable. It derives from the verb eristama, “to distinguish,” with the abstract-noun suffix -uvus and the inflected form eristuvust. In academic usage, eristuvust denotes the degree to which two or more categories can be told apart based on one or more features.

In linguistics and cognitive psychology, eristuvust refers to perceptual or phonetic discriminability: how reliably listeners can distinguish between sounds, words, or categories. For example, a phoneme contrast with high eristuvust yields little confusion in perception.
