Erikoisväri

Erikoisväri, a Finnish term, translates to "special color" or "special effect color" in English. It refers to a type of ink or coating used in printing and manufacturing that goes beyond standard CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) or Pantone spot colors. These special colors are designed to create unique visual effects, enhance durability, or provide specific functional properties to a printed or coated surface.

Common types of erikoisväri include metallic inks, which contain fine metallic particles to create a shimmering or reflective effect. Pearlescent inks offer a lustrous, iridescent appearance that changes color depending on the viewing angle. Fluorescent inks glow under ultraviolet light, making them useful for security features or eye-catching designs. Thermochromic inks change color with temperature variations, while photochromic inks react to light. UV-reactive inks are invisible under normal light but become visible under UV light.

Beyond visual effects, erikoisväri can also encompass functional coatings. These might include scratch-resistant varnishes, anti-microbial coatings for packaging, or conductive inks used in printed electronics.
