Epävalmis

Epävalmis is a Finnish adjective meaning not ready or unfinished. It describes something that has not reached a state of completion or is not prepared for use. The term is commonly applied to tasks, documents, products, software, or plans that are incomplete or not yet approved. The opposite of epävalmis is valmis, meaning ready. The related noun is epävalmius, referring to unpreparedness or incompleteness.

Formation and usage: Epävalmis is formed by adding the negative prefix epä- to the adjective valmis. The prefix conveys negation and is widely used in Finnish to form negative compounds. Epävalmis can be used predicatively, as in "Tämä ohjelmistopäivitys on vielä epävalmis," or attributively in plural contexts such as "epävalmiit suunnitelmat" (more common in practice as "epävalmiita suunnitelmia" when used with a noun). In everyday language, speakers may also use synonyms like keskeneräinen to express that something is still in progress, but epävalmis specifically signals a lack of readiness.
