Epäionisiin

Epäionisiin is a Finnish adjective form built from the prefix epä- meaning not or un-, and the suffix -inen. The base adjective epäioninen carries the sense of unbecoming, improper, or indecorous. In standard Finnish, adjectives decline to agree with the nouns they modify, so epäioninen appears in various inflected forms such as epäioniset (nominative plural) or epäioninen (singular). The form epäionisiin is the illative plural, used when the adjective modifies a plural noun in a clause meaning “to unbecoming acts” or “toward unbecoming things.”

For example, epäionisiin tekoihin describes actions regarded as unbecoming in the illative with a plural noun, while epäionisten tekojen would be the genitive plural “of unbecoming acts.” The word can thus appear in both evaluative statements about behavior and in discussions of ethics, etiquette, or ceremonial propriety.
