The term is used in Nordic languages with minor spelling differences, such as episodenummer in Danish and Norwegian and episodnummer in Swedish, to refer to this concept. Numbering schemes: Most often it combines season and episode numbers. Formats include S01E01, 1x01, Ep. 01, etc. Some shows restart numbering each season; others use a continuous series across seasons.
