Enyne
Enyne is a term used in organic chemistry to describe a molecule containing both an alkyne (a carbon-carbon triple bond) and an alkene (a carbon-carbon double bond) functional group. The relative positions of these two groups within the molecule determine its specific classification and reactivity. For example, if the double and triple bonds are adjacent to each other, the molecule is referred to as an enyne. If they are separated by one or more saturated carbon atoms, it is considered a diene with a triple bond, or simply an enyne with a specific connectivity.
The presence of both a double and a triple bond makes enynes highly reactive species. They can
Enyne functional groups are found in various natural products and are important intermediates in organic synthesis.
