Enuncerete

Enuncerete is a term used in some theoretical discussions of spoken language to denote the integrated cognitive-linguistic process that underlies fluent utterance production. It encompasses the real-time coordination of lexical selection, syntactic planning, articulation, prosody, and timing, particularly in rapid or public speech.

The term is a neologism; its coinage reflects an attempt to foreground the networked nature of speech planning and execution. Etymologically it blends enunciate with a suffix -rete chosen to evoke a network or reticulum of interconnected processes. In scholarly practice, enuncerete is invoked to distinguish the holistic act of delivering spoken language from narrower notions such as articulation (pronunciation) or enunciation (clearly pronouncing words).
