Eni

Eni SpA is an Italian multinational integrated energy company with headquarters in Rome. It traces its origins to 1953, when the Italian government established Ente Nazionale Idrocarburi to manage national hydrocarbon resources; the group later adopted the Eni name. The company is publicly traded on the Milan Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange, with the Italian government historically retaining a significant stake.

Eni operates across the full oil and gas value chain. Its activities include exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas, refining and marketing of petroleum products, and petrochemicals. It also conducts natural gas transportation and distribution, and engages in power generation and energy trading. In addition to hydrocarbons, Eni pursues investments in lower-carbon energy and technologies, including renewables, biofuels, carbon capture and storage, and hydrogen, as part of its energy transition strategy.

Globally, Eni has projects and activities in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Americas, and Asia. The group has pursued organizational changes in recent years to better integrate its operations and to expand its retail and consumer-facing activities. In 2022, Eni launched the Plenitude brand to unify its consumer-facing gas, electricity, and mobility services under a single name, while maintaining its traditional upstream and downstream businesses. The company emphasizes sustainability and aims to reduce carbon intensity while growing in low-carbon solutions and energy efficiency.
