Emojisi

Emojisi is a term used in digital communication study to denote the concept, catalog, or practice surrounding emoji usage. In this sense, emojisi can refer to the set of emoji characters used in a text, the practice of annotating messages with emoji metadata, or a dataset dedicated to emoji analysis. The term blends 'emoji' with a generic noun-forming suffix and is encountered in theoretical discussions, classroom material, and some project names rather than in formal lexicons.

The coinage is not tied to a single language or country and is described in various discussions as a way to talk about emoji semantics, representation, and cultural variation. It is used by researchers, designers, and educators to discuss how emoji convey meaning beyond words, how choices differ by culture, platform, and context, and how emoji evolve over time.

Applications of emojisi include sentiment analysis, where emoji features help indicate emotion; cross-cultural studies of interpretation; localization and translation of interfaces; and user experience research in messaging apps. Researchers also study how differences in platform rendering, skin tone modifiers, and sequence affect interpretation.
