Emlékmveken

Emlékmveken is a term with origins in Hungarian folklore and mythology, broadly referring to memorial or remembrance candle ceremonies. These candles are not merely decorative but serve a ritualistic purpose, often lit to honor the deceased, commemorate significant events, or invoke spiritual presence. The practice is deeply rooted in tradition, with specific rituals and symbolism associated with the type of candle, its placement, and the intention behind its lighting.

Families might light a candle on the anniversary of a loved one's passing, or during holidays like All Saints' Day (Mindenszentek) and All Souls' Day (Halottak napja), which are significant periods for remembering ancestors in Hungary.
