Eltu

Eltu is a small, rural community located in the Republic of the Gambia, a West African country. The community is situated in the North Bank Region, one of the country's eight administrative regions. Eltu is a relatively isolated area, with limited access to basic amenities and services.

The majority of Eltu's residents engage in subsistence farming, growing crops such as peanuts, maize, and cassava. Some individuals also practice small-scale livestock rearing, keeping animals like goats, sheep, and poultry. There are no paved roads, and the community's only access to the outside world is via a dirt track that connects to the wider road network. The area has no electricity or telecommunications services, relying on solar panels and mobile phone networks for limited communication with the outside world.

Despite these challenges, Eltu remains a vital community, with its residents demonstrating resilience and resourcefulness in the face of adversity. The community has also been the subject of research studies and development initiatives aimed at improving access to basic services and promoting economic growth. However, much still needs to be done to address the community's needs and support its long-term development.
