Elevsamarbete

Elevsamarbete (Swedish for student collaboration) refers to collaborative learning practices in which students work together to achieve learning objectives, often through structured group work, peer tutoring, and project-based activities. It emphasizes shared responsibility for learning and the construction of knowledge through dialogue and cooperation.

The aim is to develop subject understanding, communication, problem-solving, and social skills, while increasing motivation and engagement. When designed with clear goals, roles, and assessment criteria, elevsamarbete can enhance learning outcomes and promote inclusive participation.

Forms include cooperative learning techniques, such as small groups with defined roles, peer tutoring or mentoring, collaborative projects across subjects, and the use of digital collaboration tools to coordinate work and share resources.

Implementation requires teacher planning, attention to group composition, explicit norms and goals, rubrics for peer assessment, and monitoring of progress. Challenges can include uneven participation, social dynamics, and coordinating schedules; strategies to mitigate these include structured roles, accountability measures, rotating leadership, and regular feedback.

In education policy and practice, elevsamarbete is linked to constructivist and social-constructivist theories and is widely promoted as a means to deepen learning beyond individual tasks.
