Elektroonikatüüpide refers to the classification of electronic components. These classifications are crucial for understanding, designing, and troubleshooting electronic circuits. Electronic components are broadly divided into two main categories: active and passive components.

Passive electronic components are those that do not require an external power source to operate and cannot amplify or control the flow of electrical energy. They typically dissipate or store energy. Examples include resistors, which oppose the flow of current; capacitors, which store electrical energy in an electric field; and inductors, which store energy in a magnetic field. Diodes and transistors, while often considered passive due to their inherent material properties, are more accurately classified as active components due to their ability to control or amplify electrical signals.

Active electronic components, on the other hand, require a power source to operate and are capable of amplifying or controlling electrical signals. They can introduce energy into a circuit. Key examples of active components include transistors, which act as switches or amplifiers; operational amplifiers (op-amps), which are versatile integrated circuits used in many analog applications; and integrated circuits (ICs), which contain a complex arrangement of many active and passive components on a single semiconductor chip. Diodes, which allow current to flow in only one direction, are also often categorized as active components because they exhibit non-linear behavior and can control current flow.

Further classifications exist within these broad categories, such as digital versus analog components, discrete versus integrated components, and specific device types like sensors, actuators, and power electronics. This systematic classification aids in organizing the vast field of electronics.
