Elektrokardiogrammil

Elektrokardiogrammil is not a standard term in medical nomenclature. It appears to be a misspelling or nonstandard form of elektrokardiogram, more commonly known in English as an electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG). An ECG is a noninvasive test that records the electrical activity of the heart over time.

The test is performed by placing small conductive electrodes on the skin, typically on the chest, limbs, and sometimes the back. These electrodes detect electrical signals generated by the heart as it beats and transmit them to a recording device that produces a graph, or tracing, of voltage versus time. A standard resting ECG uses 12 leads to provide a comprehensive view of the heart’s electrical activity from multiple angles. The tracing shows characteristic waves and intervals, such as the P wave, QRS complex, and T wave, which reflect different phases of the cardiac cycle.

ECGs are used to diagnose and monitor a variety of heart conditions, including abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias), heart attack, heart muscle strain, electrolyte disturbances, and the effects of medication. They can be performed routinely in clinics, emergency departments, or during surgery, and may be repeated over time to track changes. Limitations include that an ECG provides a snapshot in time and may be normal between episodes of disease. In some cases, longer monitoring with ambulatory devices or additional imaging tests is needed for a complete assessment.

Historically, the electrocardiogram was developed in the early 20th century, with significant contributions from Willem Einthoven, whose work laid the foundation for modern cardiac electrophysiology.
