Elektrodepózió

Elektrodepózió refers to the process of depositing a thin layer of metal onto a conductive substrate using electrolysis. This technique is commonly known as electroplating. In electrodeposition, the object to be plated is made the cathode in an electrolytic cell, and the plating metal is either used as the anode or is present as ions in the electrolyte solution. When an electric current is passed through the solution, metal ions from the electrolyte are reduced at the cathode and deposit as a solid layer onto the object. The thickness and properties of the deposited layer can be controlled by adjusting parameters such as current density, temperature, and electrolyte composition.

Electrodeposition is widely used for a variety of purposes, including corrosion protection, decorative finishes, and improving electrical conductivity or wear resistance. Common plating metals include chromium, nickel, copper, zinc, and gold. The process requires careful control of the electrolyte's chemical makeup to ensure a uniform and adherent coating. Impurities in the electrolyte or improper electrical parameters can lead to defects in the deposited layer, such as roughness, porosity, or poor adhesion. Despite these challenges, electrodeposition remains a cost-effective and versatile method for surface modification across many industries.
