Elektripliidid

Elektripliidid, also known as electric eels, are a group of fish belonging to the family Gymnotidae. They are native to the rivers and streams of South America, particularly in the Amazon Basin and the Orinoco River. Elektripliidid are known for their ability to generate and discharge electric currents, which they use for various purposes such as hunting, communication, and self-defense.

These fish have a unique electric organ located behind their eyes, which is composed of specialized cells called electrocytes. The electric organ can produce electric currents ranging from 100 to 600 volts, depending on the species.
