Elektrikule

Elektrikule is a term used in speculative discussions of next-generation energy storage and power electronics. In these contexts, elektrikule describes a hypothetical material or device that would combine the high energy density of batteries with the fast charge–discharge capability and long cycle life of a supercapacitor, enabling rapid charging and high power output with minimal degradation.

Etymology and scope: The word elektrikule is formed from elektrik, the root for electricity in several languages, with the diminutive suffix -ule, a convention in some technical coinages to denote a small or simplified form. In most uses, elektrikule is not a defined scientific standard but a concept used in thought experiments and popular science writing.

Concept and design: In typical theoretical models, elektrikule would be based on a porous, conductive framework or matrix that hosts redox-active centers and is filled with an electrolyte (ionic liquid or solid). The architecture is intended to provide low internal resistance, high pseudocapacitance, and robust ion transport, allowing high power and high energy density.
