Eläkemuotojen

Eläkemuotojen refers to the different types of pension schemes available in Finland. The primary system is the earnings-related pension, which is funded through contributions made by both employees and employers during working life. This pension accrues based on the individual's earned income and is paid out from the age of retirement.

In addition to the earnings-related pension, there is also a universal or basic pension. This is a statutory pension provided by Kela, the Social Insurance Institution of Finland, to all residents. The basic pension ensures a minimum level of income for everyone, regardless of their work history, and its amount is influenced by factors like age and residency.

A third category encompasses occupational pensions. These are supplementary pensions offered by employers, either voluntarily or as part of collective agreements. Occupational pensions can provide additional income on top of the statutory earnings-related and basic pensions, often tailored to specific industries or company policies.

Finally, some individuals may also have voluntary private pension savings. These are personal savings plans individuals can set up to supplement their state-provided pensions and further enhance their financial security in retirement. The combination of these different eläkemuotojen aims to provide a comprehensive safety net for individuals during their post-working years.
