Eksportitulu is the total revenue earned by a country’s resident producers from selling goods and services to foreign markets during a specific period. It is a key component of the current account and is closely related to a nation’s economic activity, though it is not identical to gross domestic product.

Measurement and data collection for eksportitulu rely on national accounts and the balance of payments. The figure includes both merchandise exports and services exports and is typically expressed in the domestic currency after converting from foreign currencies. In many statistical systems, goods exports are valued on a free-on-board (fob) basis, while services exports are estimated from different data sources. Eksportitulu should be distinguished from the overall trade balance, which is exports minus imports; eksportitulu itself represents the inflow of revenue from foreign buyers.

Determinants and implications: Eksportitulu depends on the price and quantity of exports, exchange rates, global demand, and a country’s price competitiveness and infrastructure. Higher eksportitulu can strengthen the current account, boost foreign exchange earnings, and support production and employment, contributing to GDP growth.
