Ekososialismi

Ekososialismi is a political ideology that merges socialist principles with ecological concerns. It advocates for the transformation of society away from capitalist production and consumption patterns, which it identifies as the root cause of environmental degradation. Ekososialists believe that capitalism's inherent drive for profit and endless growth is incompatible with ecological sustainability. They propose a system where the means of production are socially owned and democratically controlled, allowing for rational planning of resource use and production to meet human needs without exceeding planetary boundaries.

Key tenets of ekososialism include a critique of both capitalism and authoritarian state socialism, arguing that neither has adequately addressed ecological crises. Instead, ekososialists envision a decentralized, participatory form of socialism that prioritizes ecological well-being alongside social justice. This often involves advocating for renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, reduced consumption, and a shift away from industrial models that pollute and exploit. They believe that true ecological solutions require a fundamental restructuring of economic and political power, moving beyond market mechanisms and state control towards community-based decision-making and ecological stewardship. The ideology seeks to overcome the perceived separation between human society and nature, promoting a harmonious coexistence.
