Ekkeruusta

Ekkeruusta is a small island located in the northern part of the archipelago. It is characterized by its rocky coastline and sparse vegetation, primarily consisting of hardy mosses and low-lying shrubs. The island's terrain is uneven, with several small hills and sheltered coves.

Historically, ekkeruusta served as a minor fishing outpost, with evidence of temporary settlements dating back several centuries. The island's name is believed to have an ancient origin, possibly related to the local dialect's terms for "rocky perch" or "sea eagle's nest."

Due to its exposed location, the island experiences strong winds and significant wave action, particularly during the winter months.
