These tools are fundamental in machining operations such as turning, milling, and planing. The geometry of the single cutting edge is crucial for determining the tool's performance, including chip formation, surface finish, and tool life. Key angles like rake angle, clearance angle, and cutting edge angle are meticulously designed to optimize material removal and achieve desired workpiece specifications.

The material of the cutting tip is a critical factor.
