Eikoherentti is a term used in signal processing and physics to describe a specific type of correlation or similarity between two signals. It refers to a situation where the phase relationship between two signals remains constant over time. This constant phase difference is crucial for many applications, particularly in areas like interferometry and communication systems.

When two signals are eikoherent, their wave patterns are synchronized in such a way that their crests and troughs align consistently. This synchronization allows for constructive or destructive interference patterns to be predictable and stable. For example, in optical interferometry, two light beams that are eikoherent can produce distinct and unchanging interference fringes, enabling precise measurements of distances or refractive indices.

The concept of eikoherence is closely related to coherence, but it specifically emphasizes the phase aspect. While coherence generally describes the degree of correlation between two signals, eikoherence goes further by requiring this correlation to be maintained through a constant phase difference.
