Eeltäidetud

Eeltäidetud is a term used in Estonian to describe content that is pre-filled or pre-populated in a user interface, most commonly in forms and data entry tasks. In this context, form fields such as name, address, email, or default preferences are filled with values before the user interacts with the page.

These values come from stored user data or external systems and are retrieved automatically when the page is loaded. Common sources include user profiles on the site, browser autofill and local storage, cookies, server-side sessions, and, in certain cases, validated public or enterprise databases. The goal is to streamline interaction by reducing manual typing and minimizing errors.

Examples include checkout forms that prefill shipping addresses, contact forms that insert a user’s name and email after login, or search interfaces that suggest previously used queries.

Benefits include faster completion, improved consistency, and higher conversion rates. However, eeltäidetud data can raise privacy concerns if sensitive information is auto-filled without clear consent or if data is outdated. Users should have clear control to edit, review, or clear prefilled values, and developers should implement appropriate security measures and provide opt-out options.

From a design perspective, pre-filled fields should be clearly labeled, editable, and accessible, with visible ways to restart or reset values. In Europe, data protection rules require lawful basis for processing personal data and user consent for certain types of autofill, along with transparency about what data is used.
