EUdirektiiveinä refers to European Union directives as they are implemented or transposed into the national law of an EU member state. A directive is a legislative act of the European Union that is binding on all member states. However, directives do not take direct effect within national legal systems. Instead, they set out a goal that all member states must achieve. It is up to each member state to devise their own laws on how to reach these goals. This process is called transposition.
